Hello Reader,
Happy New Year! I hope you had a lovely Christmas break.
On Christmas we lost nana, my husband's grandmother, she was 99 and 11 months old.
We were all looking forward to celebrating her 100 years this January but she was ready to join her husband on Christmas.
On the 29th of December when the iconic Vivienne Westwood passed away and everyone was posting about her on social media it made me think about all the amazing women in our lives, strong women, that left a legacy that is celebrated quietly.
In her life time nana lived through 2 wars, waited for her husband to return for three years, saw a king, a queen and the new king reign, took her first aeroplane to come to our wedding, she had 15 great-grandchildren and an incredible life. We thought she would leave us last January but when she was told she wasn't turning 100 till January 2023, she picked up and was determined to get a letter from the Queen (Yes, the Queen or King will send you a letter when you turn 100), I guess she wasn't too fussed about getting one from the King and rather spend Christmas with her husband.
I fondly remember two quotes she always used to say:
"Where there is a will there is a way"
and
"Go as far as you can"
Nana's quotes made me think about all the times I thought to quit my creative business, doubting my skills, and abilities and questioning everything. But I know in my heart that I am meant to lead people on creative journeys, to guide women to turn their passion into a business, to share my knowledge to help others, and to use the art of knotting to impact as many souls as possible.
Go as far as you can- I know I haven't reached my destination yet and there is much more I want to share.
What about you? At which stage of your macrame/creative journey are you?
What are you going to do with your macrame/creative skills this year?
The past few days I have been thinking a lot about 2023, I do not make new years resolutions, pick up words of the year etc till February/March, toward the end of the winter season when I feel the energy and the motivation of the new year. January is a calm month for me, where I reflect on the past 12 months and ponder about the future without the pressure of having a plan ready. After the crazy December, I feel we all need to have a more gentle month.

Hello Reader, I hope you are doing okay. The past 10 days have been really hard for me as I have watched in horror as innocent children, and people, have been suffering and taken away too early. My wishes and prayers every single day is for peace. I felt hopeless and heartbroken. Then yesterday evening, as I was teaching macrame jewellery for three hours at my local College for Adults, finally my frustration and hopeless were replaced with creativity, human connections, mindfulness, purpose...
Hello Reader, I hope you are well. On Tuesday I was in London to host a mini-retreat with 4 other incredible women. We started with a cacao ceremony, followed by a break nourishing ourselves with plant-based food and finally an 'awaken your creativity' with the art of knotting' session. We created a safe space and within this beautiful container we were able to talk and release many emotions, the tears I shed were much needed and it was magical to be able to share them within the group and...
